Voucher Types
Tenant-Based
The majority of Chelmsford Housing Authority’s Section 8 Housing Choice vouchers are tenant based vouchers. These are vouchers that are awarded to applicants and can be used anywhere in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Project-Based
The Chelmsford Housing Authority currently has over 50 project-based vouchers. Project-based vouchers are with the unit, not the tenant. When a tenant vacates one of these units, he or she does not take assistance with them – the voucher stays with the unit. The project-based vouchers are in currently in two apartment complexes in Chelmsford:

Of the 29 units, there are at least six units set aside for seniors / disabled individuals needing modified units.
